Bookkeeping · Essential
Clean, tax-ready books. And your return, done.
For owners still doing the books after hours and not quite trusting the number at the bottom.
The books get done at 11pm. You still do not trust them.
Bookkeeping is the job nobody hired for and everybody ends up doing. Usually the owner, usually late, usually while something else waits.
- You are categorizing transactions after the kids are in bed, and you are not sure you got them right.
- Every January turns into a scramble to clean up a year you already lived through.
- The QuickBooks file started clean and drifted. Nothing has been reconciled in months.
- One part-time bookkeeper holds the whole thing, and when they are out, nothing moves.
Six things off your plate for good
Every account tied out and every transaction categorized, every month. Not once a year in a panic.
Two statements, on a schedule, in a format built for an owner. You see what the business actually did.
Who you owe and who owes you, kept current. You stop reading the bank balance as if it were profit.
We keep the books the way the return needs them, so filing season is a handoff instead of a project.
Federal and state, prepared and filed. It is inside the monthly fee, not a spring invoice.
Not a junior with software. A licensed CPA reviews your books and signs your return.
See a real one
A live sample, not a screenshot. P&L by month, balance sheet, and cash flow, in the format you would get every month.
Honest about where you are
This is right for you if
- You need accurate books and your business return handled, without hiring anyone.
- You want the month closed on a schedule instead of catching the whole year up in January.
- You would rather have a CPA firm stand behind the numbers than one part-time person.
You might not need this yet
- If you need decision-level reporting, forecasting, or margin by job, location, or client, this level will not get you there. See Outsourced Controller.
- If you are pre-revenue or running a few dozen transactions a month, doing it yourself in QuickBooks is fine for now. We would rather tell you that than sell you something you do not need yet.
An honest range, not a surprise invoice
Most clients at this level land here. Revenue and transaction volume are the biggest movers, then payroll, sales tax, and how many entities we are keeping books for. Your business return is inside the number, so a bigger or more complex return moves it too. The top of this band is a business around $3M in revenue with a multi-owner S-corp return folded in, not bookkeeping alone.
You will notice the controller level starts at $1,700 a month, below where this band ends. That is not a mistake, and it is not a trick. They are different jobs. This tier buys you accurate books and your return. The controller tier buys you AP run for you, a live dashboard, margin by job or location, and a monthly meeting. If you are paying near the top of this range, look at both before you decide, because you may get more for close to the same money. See Outsourced Controller.
Under $1M in revenue with a simple set of books, our AI bookkeeping option with CPA oversight runs a flat $300 a month. Same reconciliation discipline, less hand work, a lower price. We will tell you on the call if you fit it.
The two things owners try first
Doing it yourself is free until you price your own hours, and the real cost shows up in the return you file off books nobody reconciled. DIY works at the very small end. It stops working the month you stop having time for it.
Hiring one bookkeeper solves the time problem and creates a new one. One person, no review, no backup, and nobody licensed to sign the return. Fully loaded, one full-time bookkeeper runs about $77k a year, and you still pay a CPA in the spring.
